Sharing our love of nature  and Miniature Silky Fainting Goats with our community

Miniature Silky Fainting Goats

Chancy Acres is committed to the preservation and promotion of  the Mini Silky goat!  The Mini Silky breed was developed in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s by crossing Tennessee Fainting Goats with long-haired Nigerian Dwarf.  Contrary to popular belief, Fainting goats do not "Faint".   Most Mini Silkies exhibit varying degrees of Myotonia, a muscle condition that causes them to stiffen or fall over when startled or overly excited. This is why they are also known as "Stiff Legged" goats.  Though their condition is entertaining at times, we Do Not try to make them faint for our pleasure.  The Mini Silky Fainting Goat is super docile and not escape artists!  Most adults don't jump due to their condition.  Our goats are hardy, love human contact and receive routine health care.  Chancy Acres is a registered breeder with the Mini Silky Fainting Goat Association (MSFGA).

Florida Butterflies

Butterflies and Butterfly plants

Chancy Acres is dedicated to preserving and protecting the butterflies of Florida.  Each species of butterfly has a specific host plant that it lays it's eggs on for their young caterpillars to eat and grow.  Eventually the caterpillar forms a chrysalis and in time transforms into a butterfly.  A butterfly will nectar from many species of flowers, but only the availability of a host plant will assure  their survival.  Chancy Acres raises many butterfly host plants, rears the butterflies and releases them back to nature.  Community education of the importance of these beautiful pollinators and their host plants is vital to their survival.
